Agayutem
May 7, 2009

Pardon me?  What did you say?

Agayutem is a team of students from Alaska Christian College who share about their new life in Christ through personal testimonies, Native Eskimo dancing, drama, singing and sharing native Alaskan culture.

The vision of Alaska Christian College is to prepare young people for whole-life discipleship. ACC is located in Soldotna, Alaska. For more information check out their web site at www.akcc.org.

Agayutem will be touring through the North Pacific Conference this spring. Cedarcreek Covenant Church is partnering with Kent Covenant Church to co-host one of their performances on Friday evening, May 29th, 7:00 p.m. in the Kent Covenant Church Worship Center (for directions go to www.kentcov.com.)  A free will offering will be taken.

Hype Sunday Coming June 7th
May 7, 2009

“Can we pray about that right now?”

This is an unusual phrase to hear from the mouth of a 2nd grader, but then again, Hype is an unusual place.  Hype, Cedarcreek’s 2nd -5th grade youth group meets on Tuesday nights.  It has been a place of gathering and learning, games and prayer for not just the youth of Cedarcreek, but also the youth of the community.   In this way, Hype has been an amazing outreach to a group of children who otherwise have no connection to church.  As the year has passed they have had the opportunity to learn about who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and how we respond to His love for us.  These youth know that Hype is a safe place to come where there are older youth and adults who care about them and what is going on in their lives.  Oh, and also that it is a lot of fun!!

As a culmination of our great year, on June 7th Cedarcreek is going to have “Hype Sunday” where all the Hype youth and their families are going to be invited.  Make sure you don’t miss it!  There will be a video about Hype, and the youth will be singing one of their favorite songs from the year.  Following that, families of all ages are invited to the 2nd Annual Forts, Frogs, and Fishing at Rob and Diane Westlunds’ house immediately after church that same afternoon for a potluck and fun!

Local Churches Make a Difference in our Community
April 26, 2009

In late March, over 160 volunteers from 14 different area churches descended on the Ravensdale Trailer Park in order to give the property and more importantly, the residents some much needed T.L.C. in Jesus’ name.  Cedarcreek Covenant Church was directly involved!  On Saturday, March 28th, expert dump truck driver, Philip “Incredible Hulk” Waite and precision backhoe operator Don “Mighty Mouse” Bowers spent the day picking up and dumping over 6 tons of trash.  On Monday, March 30th, Philip and Don were joined by Steve Klein, Ken McNabb, Phil Robinson, Pastoral Intern Sarah Robinson and Pastor Kenton Johnson for a road paving party.  One of the residents named Kim provided fresh coffee and hot cocoa as we took a break from spreading, raking and rolling the 118 tons of recycled asphalt on the two main drags of the trailer park.  In addition, several personal parking slots were paved for the residents with the extra material.  Way to go Cedarcreek!

2009 Annual Meeting
January 10, 2009
Every January the members and attenders of Cedarcreek meet to affirm the ministry budget for the year; vote in new leadership team members; and vote to accept in new members. This year’s meeting is coming up Sunday, January 18th right after worship. If you have attended before, you know it is interesting and enjoyable. If you haven’t attended before, it’s a good way to learn more about how Cedarcreek functions and what we’re about. We also eat at this meeting. Please be advised that lunch is a “free for all” potluck of munchie-finger-food-type foods. Beverages will be provided. We ask that each family staying for the meeting bring some type of food item to share.

Over 40 Volunteers Make a Difference
October 25, 2008
The weather was perfect for making a difference at Glacier Park Elementary on Saturday, October 25th.  Young and old helped with many garden projects around the school.  Here are some of the pictures from the event.  Thanks to all those that came out and helped!
